I read a book one day that talks about waiting and the amount of feelings it can hold !
What I came out with is that it’s hard! The writer Khaled Hosseini wrote in one of his books once “of all the hardships a person had to face, none was more punishing than simple act of waiting”.
So, can you imagine when the waiting is over and you finally reach finish line what the feelings look like? Oh, it is one of the most peaceful feelings in life! It’s like you were in a war between yourself and time, then.. the waiting is over! A very strong gush of adrenaline mixed with serotonin and dopamine takes over your body that might, as well, bring tears to your eyes!
I remember when I was a little kid, I used to always wait for a family member or a family friend to come after being away for years. Going to the airport to pick them up was the utmost happiness for the whole family. That moment when you see them come out, the mixed feelings of happiness, longing, and peace!
What could be the reason we used to want to go to the airport that bad? Maybe it was the gathering of the family and listening to the stories of those who were absent.
But with time, this yearning for the airport trip and the excitement that came along just melted. I thought to myself, why? What happened? And I realized that people stopped spending time together therefor their feelings are not united like before!
Which leads me to a topic that’s making me think all the time and wonder how different it is between us as little kids and kids today. We had more patience, we had the talent of killing time and waiting!
Whereas kids now a days have zero patience and zero tolerance for waiting. They want everything done on spot or else it’s a chaos! I wish I could make my son live the feelings I had back in time. The feelings of passing a long amount of time with my own talent of brain storming and imagination, then living the feeling of accomplishment and excitement right after.
We are living a very fast paced life. It is good somehow but it has lost many intimate pleasures and warmth that comes after the simple act of waiting.
